In part because Tacoma's line is so short, the rider
is likely to focus on observing details along the way. Much of what
one sees on the northern
portion of the route, which passes through the historic retail core of the city, is
shuttered stores, such as the old F. W. Woolworth visible across
Commerce St. in this scene.
But there are signs of revitalization,
and the streetcar has surely helped with the area's recovery.
