NEW ORLEANS STREETCAR
One Block on Canal St.

Canal St. once was one of the very few major arteries in the country to have four tracks of streetcar service.  For many decades, until restoration of the Canal Streetcar in 2004, the single-block, single-track running of the St. Charles Streetcar was the only remaining rail service anywhere along that very wide artery.

The green streetcar in this view will shortly turn outbound onto St. Charles Ave.  One of the much newer Canal Streetcars approaches in the medium distance.  Posters marking the 2005 Mardi Gras are still in place.  The parades and partying had just recently concluded.
