At Park St. there is a reproduction of the Boston
Herald front page from September, 1897, two cents the copy, showing a
depiction of the orderly but mobbed scene on the first car passing
through the Tremont Street Subway.
Eleven decades and more, and it
still carries the masses, although under markedly different conditions
