PORTLAND STREETCAR
Different Color Schemes

This view is along NW 23rd Ave., and dates to 2001, the first year of operation.  This streetcar shows the first destination south, Portland State Univ.

The original paint schemes for cars showed a variety of bright colors.   Car 001 sported dark blue sides and a front suffused with green.  Officially, the line's early documentation advised that "The four primary colors (RED, BLUE, ORANGE, GREEN) of the Streetcars represent the four quadrants of the city of Portland and the light blue represents the Willamette River flowing through the quadrants."
