BUFFALO LIGHT RAIL
Single, Short Line with Subway

Buffalo's single light rail line is short, less than seven miles long.  The downtown portion of Metro Rail, as it is called, runs along a transit mall on Main St.  In an unusual twist, once the line leaves center city the rest of the route -- eight further stations and more than five miles out to University -- is in a subway.

The scene in view here is between Theater and Fountain Plaza, the two most northern stops of the six along the mall.
