	The landscape and the
"humanscape."   Sometimes, too infrequently, we protect what once was, albeit with our own peculiar artifacts suspended in time as well.
That was somehow a very special and unexpectedly wonderful morning.  As we approached the Preserve the fog was fairly intense and depressing, and seemed to foredoom us to a limited experience.   While we waited outside for opening, and in our first few moments there it lifted -- gloriously lifted, exposing for us the seemingly limitless prairie.
  The
monarch butterflies were migrating just then.  As they say, "you had to be there." |
